Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? Find answers in our HVAC FAQs.

Why is it important to regularly maintain my HVAC system?

Proper maintenance of your HVAC system prolongs the life of your equipment, while ensuring it performs optimally.

Routine maintenance also allows a trained Comfort Zone technician to inspect the equipment and spot any minor problems before they lead to major, more expensive repairs.

What brands of HVAC equipment do you install and service?

We install a wide variety of equipment. For residential furnaces and ACs, we commonly install Carrier, Navien, RUUD, and Comfort Aire equipment. For commercial HVAC installation, we often install Carrier, Trane, and York.

We maintain and service all makes and models.

What payment options are available?

We accept cash, cheque, and credit as forms of payment.

How much does a new HVAC system cost?

Of all the HVAC FAQs, this is the one we get the most often.

The cost of a new HVAC system depends on many variables, including the make and model of equipment, the size of the home or business, and what is involved in the job.

It’s difficult to quote without seeing the residence or commercial building. That’s why we offer free in-home estimates. We also answer all of your questions and go over everything, so nothing gets missed and everyone is on the same page.

How often do I need to service my HVAC system?

Residential and commercial spaces have different needs.

At Comfort Zone, we believe it’s best to service residential HVAC equipment a minimum of once per year, but, ideally, we recommend servicing home AC equipment in the spring and furnace equipment in the fall.

You should service commercial HVAC equipment four times per year or, at a minimum, twice per year.

This keeps your HVAC system running smoothly and efficiently. It also allows our technicians to proactively fix minor problems before they turn into bigger ones.

What are the different types of HVAC filters?

The type of filtration systems that are available can range from a simple throw-away filter to a HEPA/charcoal system.

The right filtration system for your residence will depend on the type of furnace and HVAC equipment you have.

A standard throw-away filter will only block dirt and debris. A pleated filter (MERV 8 and above) will block airborne particles and the HEPA/ charcoal systems will freshen the air while blocking almost all airborne particles.

How long do HVAC systems last?

After cost-related questions, this is one of the most common HVAC FAQs.

In general, the lifespan of HVAC systems is 15-25 years. This number depends on a variety of factors, including the quality of your equipment and installation and how well the system is maintained.
